Neighbor’s Mill began when we (Mike and Karin Nabors) decided to turn our passion for fresh, natural foods, into a career. With the vision of creating the finest scratch-made handcrafted breads and pastries available, we decided to put the 100-year-old grist mill we purchased in 1974 to good use. We opened Neighbor’s Mill Bakery & Café in August 2000, serving all-natural breads, pastries, grilled and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, pizzas, desserts, and espresso coffees, The Mill became an immediate hit in the Ozarks region with locals and travelers alike.

At Neighbor’s Mill Bakery & Café our mission is to provide a memorable experience for our customers; memorable products, memorable service and memorable atmosphere. Here’s what makes us unique in our market segment:

  • Handcrafted breads. Most franchisors produce bread in a central commissary, partially bake it, freeze it and ship it to their franchisees to bake on site. There is a vast difference in product quality when you compare this production method to ours. We grind our whole grains (grown chemically-free in Montana) on a stone buhr grist mill. We make our doughs from scratch and handcraft each loaf of bread. Our white flour is both unbleached and unbromated, which means it’s pure flour with no additives or preservatives. We use honey instead of processed sugar in our breads so they are healthier and stay fresher longer.
  • Demonstration Bakery. At Neighbor’s Mill we put out giant maple block table and bread oven right out front where customers can easily see our artisan bakers kneading, shaping, baking and cooling our handcrafted breads. Customers often stand and watch our bakers at work. All this adds to the authenticity of our bakery.
  • Made from scratch soups. While we purchase some soups from a premier soup company, many of our soups are made from scratch in our kitchen. Our tomato basil soup is regionally famous.
  • Original Recipes. All our recipes are original. You can’t find the same combination of ingredients or the same flavor profile anywhere else. This creates what we like to call a “Wow!” response from customers.
